Transforming the floor in a busy dog daycare centre in Hereford
Well done to Helen and Matt from K9 Cares Ltd in Hereford who are the winners of our November #showusyourproject competition! Once again, we again received some outstanding entries for this month’s competition; projects that we hope we can share with you in the near future. The K9 Cares project really stood out to us for the sheer fun and creativity! We hope that you will agree that the transformation of their doggy day care centre is just fantastic.
“Saw your promotional post about inviting people to showcase how they’ve used your products. We would love to show off what we’ve achieved with your range of paints. We’ve used you several times over the years and asked advice about the flooring in our busy dog daycare centre in Hereford. We’ve always been very happy with the service, quality and price of your ranges. After several years of covering the floors, this year we adopted a strip everything back approach and start from scratch. With the advice and product you suggested we manage to achieve the look we’ve been searching for. More to the point, its fit for purpose and almost 8 months on, still looks as good as new, even with 30+ dogs gallivanting over each most days! I attach the pictures of the prep, partial and full finish. They speak volumes. Its given our daycare and business a whole new fresh look and feel.

Two Pack Epoxy Floor Paint (Top Coat) - This epoxy floor coating is designed for application to concrete, cement and non ferrous metals. It provides excellent resistance to water, solvents, acids, alkalis and salts and gives superb adhesion to all recommended substrates. Tough finish has long lasting abrasion and impact resistance. Recommended for areas receiving heavy traffic (vehicle/trucks). Following application of the product: Do not park vehicles or place heavy equipment on the floor for a minimum of 48 hours Do not get the floor wet for a minimum of 7 days as this will cause bloom (discolouration) - Coverage: 5-7 m² per litre - Touch Drying Time: 12-16 hrs - Recoat: 24 hrs - Hard Drying Time:48 hrs - Full Cure: 7 days
Milking Parlour Wall Paint - Designed for it’s resistance to moisture and industrial pollution, and is also extremely resistant to chemicals, acids and alkaline. Parlour paint is ideal for areas kept hygienically clean by jet washing and detergents. This is based on a chlorinated rubber, halogenated hydrocarbon resin, giving a semi-gloss finish. - Coverage: 5m² per litre - Touch Drying Time: 6hrs - Recoat: 24 hrs - Hard Drying Time: 48 hrs
Doggy day care centres are becoming increasingly popular and Helen and Matt obviously care very much about the environment in which they look after their doggy clients. The fun of the floors is also matched with a sensible purchase of our two-pack epoxy floor paint. Dog urine contains ammonia which can attack some types of floor paint. Epoxy floor paint is the best option by far for use as a concrete floor paint here, as it is the most resistant to pet urine and we are so pleased that the floors at K9 Cares still look as good as new after 8 months of daily use.
